National Water Week, 5th March 2012 to 11th March 2012

National Water Week, 5th March 2012 to 11th March 2012
During National Water Week, we allow ourselves time to reflect on the importance of this basic and scarce human need, called water. Within our Municipality, we are constantly reminded of how the availability of water is critical to our mandate of providing potable water that is safe, reliable and regulated. It also highlights the centrality of water as a resource in the well-being of both the environment and people.
With this mandate comes the responsibility to continuously ensure that we do provide all our consumers with a minimum, basic level of service, but furthermore that we strive to ensure that our water infrastructure is capable of meeting our current consumers' needs whilst simultaneously preserving this resource.
With this in mind, our Municipality partnered with the Department of Water Affairs and to develop and implement a strategy that would minimize water losses from our reticulation network, and concurrently preserve this scarce and basic resource in our dams and streams.

We therefore request that all citizens of Msunduzi join us in fighting our battle against water wastage by using water wisely, reporting leaks, bursts as well as illegal connections. Your involvement in helping us reduce our water wastage will ensure that we, and future generations, will continue to have access to some of best drinking water in the world.
